What’s your favourite travel story?

The most memorable trips provide experiences and feelings that you have never felt before, and that stay with you for a lifetime.

In Southeast Asia, I cherished every moment of a live-aboard boat trip with friends in the Komodo Islands off Flores, Indonesia. We had an incredible guide who took us diving, snorkeling, and exploring remote beaches and coves. We slept and ate on the boat, spending our evenings laughing under the stars with no other souls in sight.

As a child, our family went on ski trips to Banff in Canada during Easter holidays. I was amazed by the incredible wildlife in Banff National Park — we saw moose and even wolves on our drive to the ski slopes. The Rocky Mountains are awe-inspiring, and the Canadian people are so friendly. I would love to take my own kids back there someday.

What is the one thing you don’t travel without?

In remote parts of Asia, pharmacies are often unavailable nearby. I always carry a trusty clear bag with essentials such as paracetamol, plasters, antiseptic cream, rehydration sachets, antihistamines, throat lozenges, and Tolak Angin (an Indonesian herbal syrup that seems to solve everything). Now, with children, I also make sure to bring a thermometer, along with kids’ Panadol, Ibuprofen, and cough medicine.
